About Us

Lakeside Animal Hospital is a privately owned practice located in Richmond VA. The practice was established in the mid 1950’s, and currently owned by Dr. Gonzalez since 2001. We are an AAHA accredited practice and we enjoy our diverse clientele made up of dogs, cats, avian, reptile, and small mammals. We strive to maintain a safe work environment, a positive culture, and we are looking for professionals to join our team.

Our ideal candidate is a problem solving, committed, energetic, veterinarian who can provide excellent care to our patients, along with the highest standard of customer service for our clients. We would love to have another exotics trained veterinarian, but it is not required for this position.

We are looking for an experienced veterinarian, however, a new grad will also be considered. We would welcome your experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine, even if it’s not a service we currently provide.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations of animals
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and diseases in animals
  • Perform surgical procedures as needed
  • Prescribe medications and administer vaccinations
  • Provide guidance and education to pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary medicine

Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Valid state veterinary license
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and diseases
  • Experience in dog training, dog handling, pet grooming, pet care, animal restraint, veterinary critical care, animal husbandry, laboratory work, or equine medicine is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00+ per year

We also offer bonus and commission opportunities. 

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
