Dr. Marissa Gonzalez
Dr. Marissa Gonzalez was born in Maryland and raised in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Rutgers University in 1984. She moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1989 and worked at Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Hospital before moving to Blacksburg, VA to attend the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez’s veterinary interests include avian, exotic, and emergency animal care. Some of Dr. Gonzalez’s hobbies include scuba diving, hiking, boating and reading.
Dr. Dawn Lenihan
Dr. Lenihan grew up in East Brunswick, NJ. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Delaware and her veterinary degree at Tufts University. After graduating, she returned to New Jersey and practiced at a small animal hospital for several years. Dr. Lenihan recently moved to Virginia and is very excited to join this practice and this community. Outside of the office, Dr. Lenihan enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her husband and their box turtle Lu.
Sam has worked in the veterinary field for about 6 years now. She is currently in school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Sam lives with her 10 year old and three year old main coon mixes, Luffy and Harley Quinn. And her 5 year old Yorkshire terrier, Anderson Walker. In her free time you can usually find Sam playing a video game, or spending time with family and friends. Sam has worked at Lakeside since December 2017 and enjoys working with the large variety of patients that are seen here.
Rebecca just recently moved to Richmond from Northern Virginia and has been with Lakeside Animal Hospital since April of 2019. She is pictured with her French bulldog, Baloo. You can see her doing a little bit of everything from checking you in to assisting the vets during your visit. Rebecca has been working in the veterinary field since 2016. She is also our new groomer! Rebecca participates in local Grooming Seminars to continue her education in the grooming field and attends dog shows to keep up with the breed standard education. She enjoys being able to pamper your pet during their spa day but she also loves being able to assist in cases helping make sick pets feel better and building a relationship with the owner during their general exams.
Emma has been a part of the Lakeside family for almost 2 years. She is a student at J. Sargent Reynolds working on her degree in Psychology. She loves helping you at the front desk with all your appointments. When not at work or school she love music and playing with her kitten Boomer.
Bonet is a sophomore at Virginia State University. Her major is Agriculture with a concentration in Pre-Veterinarian Medicine. After graduation Bonet plans on continuing her education at Tuskegge University in Alabama then hopes to return to Richmond to practice.
Lauren is a junior year college student who recently moved to Richmond to pursue a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness with a Psychology Minor at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been working with animals for over 4 years. Her love for animals started when she began pet sitting for her neighbor when she was younger, and she eventually started her own mini pet sitting business. When she was a senior in high school, she began working at her first veterinary hospital in Centreville, VA. Since then, she has had an exceptional basic understanding of veterinary care. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, hiking, spending time with friends, and relaxing with her cat, Zoey and ball python, Drogon.
Rebecca has recently joined the Lakeside family and feels so welcomed. Being apart of an amazing staff makes her feel right at home! She is a full time VCU student majoring in Biology and has recently enlisted in the United States Army and cannot wait to begin that journey. Her ultimate goal is to go to veterinary school and hopefully one day own a practice. She has one dog named Maya. She is a four year old American Eskimo. When not working or studying, she is most likely at the gym, spending time with friends and family, or doing anything outdoorsy.
Sherrie Gross is the Lead Kennel Assistant here at LAH. She started working here on December 4, 2006. She has enjoyed taking care of a wide variety of animals over the last 13 years. She absolutely adores all the amazing pets she gets to meet. She treats every pet like they are her very own baby while they are here. She can not wait to meet your baby so that she can give them all kinds of love.
