Dr. Marissa Gonzalez was born in Maryland and raised in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Rutgers University in 1984. She moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1989 and worked at Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Hospital before moving to Blacksburg, VA to attend the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez’s veterinary interests include avian, exotic, and emergency animal care. Some of Dr. Gonzalez’s hobbies include scuba diving, hiking, boating and reading.
